T-SCAN
Brochure
Accutest has developed a unique solution to meet the needs of the Heavy Duty Truck industry for diagnostic access and fleet management data both for the service-bay and for ‘on-the-road’ remote access.
On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Data Access
The industry has for some time now adopted the SAE J1939 communications protocol for trucks. This has allowed manufacturers to provide comprehensive ‘On-Board Diagnostics’ (OBD) for the latest generation of trucks, access to the diagnostic data of which until now has been available primarily using bespoke diagnostic systems, provided by the truck manufacturers themselves. However, the latest European legislation means that this diagnostic data can now be accessed using the T-SCAN generic system.
T-SCAN uses the Accutest Vehicle Gateway (AVG) as the ‘interface’ to the vehicle and Accutest’s software application to provide a ‘user friendly’ method of accessing, processing and presenting this diagnostic data to the vehicle technician in the Service Bay or at the roadside. The AVG connects directly to the vehicle via the Diagnostic Connector, and, a PC is required to run the application software.
The diagnostic functions provided by T-SCAN include:
- Reading Active and Previously Active DTC’s
- Displaying relevant SPN’s and FMI’s
- Clearing Active and Previously Active DTC’s
- Reading Freeze Frame Data
- Displaying Real-Time Data …and much more
Fleet Management System (FMS) Data Access
T-SCAN can also be used to access operational and management data from the vehicle using the Fleet Management System (FMS) standard. Since 2001, six European truck manufacturers have provided the option to the industry using the FMS (Fleet Management System). Truck manufacturers who support the FMS system are:
- DAF Volvo
- Scania Renault
- MAN Iveco
The FMS standard provides data taken directly from the vehicle’s J1939 communications bus and includes, for example:
- Fuel Level, Fuel Used
- Vehicle Speed, Engine Speed
- Coolant Temperature
- Accelerator Pedal Position
- Brake and Clutch switch
- Engine Hours
- Tachograph information …and much more
Versions
T-SCAN comes in three versions:
- T-SCAN – This version is designed for service-bay use, where the vehicle technician can connect a PC directly and access diagnostic or FMS data in real time.
- T-SCAN LOG – This version of T-SCAN allows for the collection of data following diagnostic ‘events’, or for the collation of data during a journey over a period of time. The data is logged on-board the AVG (using Compact Flash card) and upon the vehicle’s return the data can be accessed from the CF card for analysis, presenting the data in tabular or graphical format.
- T-SCAN REMOTE – This version allows for vehicle data to be collated using the AVG and that data and/or ‘events’ are transmitted via a GSM/GPRS connection to a User on the internet. Diagnostic events can be captured by the AVG which is configured to transmit the ‘event’ to the internet. FMS data can either be transmitted directly, or locally processed for transmission to the internet. A number of service providers can access this data to be added/synchronised to GPS tracking data. Customised reports can then be generated to provide comprehensive analysis of measurements such as fuel consumption, tachograph analysis, driver style etc.
Future versions of the T-SCAN REMOTE will enable the user to re-configure the AVG on board the vehicle via the internet to access further data for more in-depth analysis.
