CANcaseXL log combines two products in one device:

• a reliable and robust data logger for logging bus traffic during test drives or in the test laboratory, and
• a professional CAN/LIN bus interface with USB 2.0 interface.

Special Interface Functions of CANcaseXL log:

• Access to the LIN bus
• High data throughput (35,000 messages per second)
• Precise time stamps (1 µs)
• Message pre-processing on the card to reduce the PC load
• Bus transceivers for CAN/LIN as plug-in PC boards (CAN-/LINpiggies)
• On request FPGA update by the customer
• Precise measurement of bus load
• Time synchronization possible with other hardware via external connection (party line)

Features and Advantages

Equipped with a memory card interface for SD cards, CANcaseXL log can be operated independent of a PC and can save up to 2 GByte of CAN and LIN data. The data logger is configured via its own configuration tool. Measurement data may be transferred to a PC by USB or by memory card. There they may be evaluated using CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape, or CANgraph. CANcaseXL log also offers export options to file formats such as Ascii, Excel, Matlab, and others. When used as a CAN/LIN interface it has the same excellent properties as a CANcaseXL.

Data Logger Functions:

• Data logging of CAN and LIN messages to SD card

• Symbolic configuration of triggers and filters with the help of CANdb files
• Filters can be configured for logging specific messages
• File Manager for organizing and converting (MDF and BLF) log files

• Buffering of messages in the device

Application Areas

CANcaseXL log is a reliable and robust data logger for logging bus traffic on vehicle test drives or in the test laboratory. As a CAN/LIN interface, its powerful microcontroller and USB 2.0 interface also make it well suited to high-end applications which demand high data throughput, precise time synchronization and accurate time stamps.

CANcaseXL log can be operated with all Vector tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, and CANape. It may be used in combination with any number of other CANcaseXL log devices and any other Vector CAN or LIN interface. This allows access to a large number of CAN and LIN channels with a PC.

Additionally, the XL-Driver-Library can be used to create custom applications which of course can also be used with all other Vector branded hardware interfaces.

Bus Transceiver

A large number of bus drivers is available to the user. These are supplied on plug-in PC boards, so-called CANpiggies and LINpiggies (see Interface bus drivers pdf) They can be exchanged easily if needed. The two channels of the CANcaseXL log may be operated with any combination of plug-in boards.
